My Story: Journey to Becoming a Therapist

My journey to becoming a therapist began as a lost college student trying to find my footing in the huge world that awaited me outside campus doors. It was a study abroad trip to Ghana that ignited a desire in me to be a fierce advocate for those whose voices couldn’t be heard.

Though I had dreams of becoming a lawyer, I was re-fueled to turn a different career corner by a deep passion for helping others and a natural inclination for leadership.

Throughout my life, I’ve drawn inspiration from those around me—witnessing resilience, compassion, and the power of connection.

These experiences have shaped my commitment to empowering individuals during their most difficult moments, offering guidance and support when it’s needed most.

Who I Work With

I have had the privilege of working with individuals from many diverse backgrounds and walks of life, allowing me to provide culturally informed support and guidance. Additionally, as a Latina social worker, I also bring a deep understanding of the unique challenges and strengths within our community.

My counseling experience has included working with children, teenagers and adults. I have worked in the legal system, nonprofit organizations and schools.

My focus is working with individuals on navigating depressed emotions, anxiety, stress, PTSD, dysmorphia and trauma.

My Therapy Approach

I believe that all individuals have the inherent ability to heal, that through our traditional greatness and positive energy we can overcome the impossible. I believe in the strength within every person, and my goal is to help others recognize and harness that strength to overcome challenges and create positive change in their lives. I have experience using different counseling modalities such as CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, trauma-informed therapy, mindfulness, meditation, etc. to help individuals take control over negative thought patterns and behaviors.
